Privacy Policy

Who we are
TradeGreen is run by TradeGreen LLC, a New York limited liability company. This policy explains what we collect when you use TradeGreen, why, and what you can do about it.
No accounts, no profiles
TradeGreen has no user accounts. Nothing on the site asks for your name, and we don't build profiles of visitors. The one exception is the early-access waitlist, where you can choose to give us your email; that's described below.
If you join the waitlist
If you enter your email on our early-access page, we store the address, the date, which link brought you (Instagram, TikTok, X, or direct), your browser's user-agent string so we can spot bot signups, and a record of which of our emails we've sent you and when. We don't store your IP address with it, we don't buy or add anything else about you, and we don't sell the list or share it with anyone except the email services that deliver our mail.
We use your email for three things: a short welcome series, our newsletter, and telling you when TradeGreen opens up. To stop them, reply to any of our emails and ask to come off the list, or email us. We'll take you off, and delete your address entirely if you ask.
If you use a beta code
Beta codes are stored only as a one-way hash, next to a label we use to remember who we sent each code to. When you enter a code, we set one cookie that keeps you in the beta for 7 days (it renews while you keep visiting), and we record when each code was last used and how many times. That cookie exists only to let you in. It isn't used for analytics or advertising.
What stays on your device
Your watchlist, your Practice Round portfolio, and whether you've closed our first-visit notices are saved in your browser's local storage on your device. The one exception is the notice about AI-written explanations: closing it sets a small cookie that says only that you closed it, so the page doesn't show it again for a year. Our server reads that cookie to decide whether to include the notice, and it isn't used for anything else. Your recently viewed tickers are kept only until you close the tab. We don't receive or keep a copy of any of it. When a page needs a price for one of your tickers, your browser asks our server for it like any page request, and we don't save the list. Clearing your browser data erases all of it.
What else we collect
Three more things. First, standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) that our hosting provider keeps for a limited time to operate and secure the service; this is true of practically every website. Our servers also look at your IP address briefly, in memory, to stop people hammering our forms; we don't store it.
Second, if you use the “report inaccuracy” button, we store the report itself (which item you flagged and the reason you typed) so we can review it. Don't put personal information in a report.
Third, anonymous usage analytics (via PostHog): which pages are visited and which features get used; for example, that a search happened (never what you typed), which chart timeframes get clicked, whether the “why it's moving” scores are being seen, and that a waitlist signup happened (the fact of it and which platform sent you, never the address itself). This is tied to a random ID in your browser's local storage (not a cookie, and not your name). Your waitlist email, if you gave us one, is never attached to it. We use this for one thing: to understand which features are worth keeping and improving.
Who helps us run TradeGreen
A few service providers handle data for us, only to run the service: our hosting provider (Railway) runs our servers and keeps their logs, the email services we send from (Resend, and Gmail for notes we send by hand) deliver our emails, and PostHog processes the anonymous analytics described above. We also use an AI provider (Anthropic) to write explanations of news articles; it receives news text, never anything about you. We may disclose information if the law requires it, and if TradeGreen is ever sold or reorganized, this information would move with it under this policy.
What we don't do
No advertising networks, no selling of data, no cross-site tracking cookies, no session recording, and analytics never captures what you type. Analytics events go to our own domain first, not directly to a third party's tracker address. Market data on the page is fetched by our own servers from data providers; your browser talks to TradeGreen, not to them. One exception: article thumbnails on the News page load directly from the news source's servers (we tell your browser not to send them a referrer, but like any image on the web, that host sees the request).
How long we keep it
Waitlist emails stay until you ask us to remove them or we close the list. Beta invite records stay until the beta ends. Inaccuracy reports stay as long as they're useful for keeping the data right. Server logs follow our hosting provider's retention period.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing us. We'll answer within 30 days. You can also block or clear local storage and cookies in your browser at any time.
Age
TradeGreen is for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If we learn we have, we'll delete it.
Security
We protect what we hold with reasonable measures: encrypted connections, hashed beta codes, signed cookies, and access limited to the people who run TradeGreen. No system is perfectly secure, so we keep what we collect to a minimum in the first place.
If this changes
If we add features that need more data, this policy will be updated first and the effective date above will change. We'll never quietly start collecting more than what's written here.
